Valdemar Discussion Post!

This is the official Dead Vanyel Party discussion post!

Whether it's your first read or your millionth, there's always something worth talking about--and rambling at length about at that. Confide in your fellow Lackey fans--who's your fave? What books do you eat up with a spoon? Does Vanyel end up as a gay Companion after the Mage Storms books? Or is he reborn as the very subtle baby herald "Vanel"? If so, does that make Stef his life-bonded companion "Tylenol", or what? And is Ma'ar REALLY dead? (No!)

Life's little questions, and we all want to talk about them.

Anon and unanon are currently allowed on this post. As of August 9, only anon posting will be allowed, in order to foster an anonny sense of anonymousness, in the vein of everyone's favorite meme ;P. The exception to the anon-only rule is the Introduction Thread, where you can introduce yourself and meet fellow players.

If you're looking for "Research Materials", join the comm and visit this post. (Subtle, right?)

How's it going?

We're almost done with prompt week... are any of the later prompts looking good to you? Is anyone else a bit overwhelmed by the sheer number of prompts? haha.

(I might be working on a google spreadsheet listing & linking to all the prompts, plus separate sheets dividing them by book -- would anyone be interested in the link to that once I'm done?)

Yes, I am always interested in taking advantage of the organizational skill of others!

Okay, here it is! The first sheet is ALL THE PROMPTS, subsequent sheets are all the prompts for individual books and trilogies (either specifically set in those books OR open-ended enough to be set in those books). And a "Miscellaneous" sheet at the end for the books that only got one or two prompts + all the open-ended ones. A lot of prompts are therefore listed multiple times :)

If I miscategorized anything, let me know and I'll fix it!

Yeah, holy fuck, there is so much I would LIKE to be working on. I have stuff to post for two different prompts already...as one of my fills is going to be long and is nowhere near complete, I don't know how much else I'll be able to pick up but god damn I wish I could fill all the things :(

Sameee.

There are a lot of really plotty prompts that I'm just not going to have enough time to do full justice to... though there are also plotty ones that I bet I can pull a "one key scene" fill for. Like the Beauty & the Beast one, maybe...

Lol I should try doing that too. Am sure prompters will love it.

As someone who posted a few plotty prompts -- yes! I would much rather get a 300-word snapshot than get nothing at all :)

I am the OP of the Beauty and the Beast prompt, and I will absolutely take what I can get! Imagining various scenarios for this has been my secret guilty pleasure since forever :D

I need to finish up with this prompt so I can start on others.

But I keep adding.

And adding.

I haven't written for this fandom before, and I'm really enjoying it. I'm taking Lackey's own stylistic tendencies as an excuse to indulge with way more semi-colons that I usually allow myself.

I want to write so much more for this prompt than I have time for, and I'm having a really hard time figuring out what part to focus on. :(

DO IT ANON just grab whatever corner of it is easiest to pick up and take it and go.
