I had this idea years ago for Yuletide and never used it, so I'm releasing it into the wild. In Oathbreakers, somewhere around the part where they're all travelling in the snow and Kethry becomes an Adept and then nearly dies and Jadrek nearly dies...
What if omega Jadrek goes into heat? In a snowstorm? And the only alpha anywhere near is Kethry, the woman he secretly loves? (btw, note that in canon Kethry actually describes herself as feeling like a bitch in heat for Jadrek.) And who maybe doesn't know he's an omega, if he's been taking heat suppressants along with his pain meds, and now they've run out.
And while Jadrek and Kethry are busy with all that, betas Tarma and Warrl are sitting around playing counters and making commentary like they're Waldorf and Statler?
