Oh wow. Van is amazing here - I felt so stressed out for him when he was facing down Staven in public, and he carried it off so very well. (I think I know who that was he ran into in the gardens, too :P ) And then...there he goes using all his reason and courage and complete lack of tact and oh, oh, poor Van.
