Day 1 -Aug. 9 - Prompts! You will have seven days to put as many prompts as you'd like on this post. And if you start writing them early, well that's just good planning!

Day 8 - Aug. 16 - Prompting ends, posting begins! You have 14 days to write, draw, and potentially diorama as many prompts as you can.

Day 19 - Aug. 27 - This is the cut-off day for prompters to reply to any questions about their prompt. Unanswered questions are considered enthusiastic agreement.

Day 21 - Aug. 29 - Last day of posting! All fills must be posted by 11:59 PM North American Mountain Time.
Day 22 - Aug. 30 - Party time! You now have the option of going unanon and reposting everything you've done to AO3 under our fancy AO3 Collection. Or unanoning in whatever manner you please.

For the purposes of this fest, the prompts themselves are warnings. If you have issues with this policy, we recommend either not participating or using Dreamwidth blocker.

Joining the 21_days community is optional for prompters, fillers, and all interested parties; we have some extra content for comm members, but this prompt/fill post, the discussion post, and the mod call post are open for everyone.

MOST IMPORTANT RULE: Posting unanon will be deleted. This doesn't mean you aren't welcome here! And if you'd like the content of your comment PMed to you, contact the MOD CALL post.

For Prompters and Readers

Subject lines should include the series, characters and/or pairing you want. Feel free to be as descriptive as you'd like. Warnings aren't required, but they also aren't banned.
You don't have to write or draw. It's anon, there's no IP-tracking, and we aren't going to stalk you.
Do not comment on other people's prompts to try and change pairings or characters. Post your own version with the characters you want instead.
If you fail to respond to a 'is this okay?' kind of question about any of your prompts by the 19th day, it'll be taken as an enthusiastic yes, no matter what the question is.
There are no subject bans. You may prompt anything you want.
If you don't want to answer any questions, you can say so, and that will work as blanket permission for anything people might want to do with your prompt.
Prompts for non-Valdemar Mercedes Lackey series are allowed.

For Artists and Writers

No claiming prompts, please, as multiple fills are welcome!
Minimum wordcount per fill is 100 words.
All content is allowed and all warnings are optional, but if you want to write or draw extreme kinks** for a prompt that doesn’t specifically request them, you have ask the prompter first.
If the artist requests it, the mods will repost art fills as an embedded picture in a reply to their comment. NSFW art will be labelled as such in the subject line by re-posting mods. Art involving underaged characters in porn situations will not be re-posted as an embed.
RPF of underage people is not allowed. We're not even sure if it's possible for Valdemar fic, but whatever. It's not allowed.

There are a few lines in Winds of Change that struck me upon rereading. Mornelithe is newly aware of Firesong’s tremendous power, and reflects on the young Adept:

“For another moment, he was overcome by a feeling of complete and overpowering lust. And not just for the power—for the one who had created and conceived this plan. What would it be like to have such a one under his control, subject to his whims and fancies, placing his abilities at Mornelithe’s call?

What would it be like to be under the control of such a one…?”

So anyway, how about a canon divergence AU where near the end of Winds of Change they can’t figure out how to destroy Mornelithe, and they decide the only safe way to deal with him is for Firesong to keep him magically enslaved? Like how Ancar keeps Mornelithe under control in Winds of Fury. Mornelithe takes the opportunity to seduce Firesong, and while Firesong remains magically in control and could stop or imprison Mornelithe at any moment, he’s never quite sure how deep the manipulation goes…

AKA I want Firesong stealth-dubconned by the sexy evil cat-man -_- PWP is a-okay.

Because "the terrible decisions of magical horses" inspired this idea. Magical girls meet magical horses and explore the dark side of Noble Sacrifice? Any era of Valdemar okay.

After Tylendel, there was a period where Vanyel tried comforting himself with sex, any sex, until it occured to him that most people were not going to say "no" to him (and maybe he was unconsciously using a bit of magic to seal the deal).

Bonus if other people are at least vaguely aware that this ain't quite right, and trying to hint at it without saying it to his face, and he's oblivious until he overhears a conversation or something.

What's his name, Andrel? The healer. They were canon, weren't they?

She really wanted Forst Reach, wanted to be the Ashkevron heir. That was her number one dream job, and she must have known it wasn't possible because girls weren't allowed to inherit, but she still wouldn't give up... until she did, and marched off to Haven and got Chosen.

I want to hear about that, about her ideas for improving the Keep, practicing the skills she needed to to a good heir, planning and scheming, and then what finally drove her to leave. And then being Chosen and embarking on something like a second career, in her teens, and discovering there's something else she can be good at. Much like Vanyel and his blighted music dream, now I think of it.

If you want to go into her finding that there are sexist assholes at the Collegium too, and maybe siccing her magic horse on them, my inner 13yo who first read these books would be ecstatic.

I had this idea years ago for Yuletide and never used it, so I'm releasing it into the wild. In Oathbreakers, somewhere around the part where they're all travelling in the snow and Kethry becomes an Adept and then nearly dies and Jadrek nearly dies...

What if omega Jadrek goes into heat? In a snowstorm? And the only alpha anywhere near is Kethry, the woman he secretly loves? (btw, note that in canon Kethry actually describes herself as feeling like a bitch in heat for Jadrek.)
And who maybe doesn't know he's an omega, if he's been taking heat suppressants along with his pain meds, and now they've run out.

And while Jadrek and Kethry are busy with all that, betas Tarma and Warrl are sitting around playing counters and making commentary like they're Waldorf and Statler?

Talia becomes a cat. The whys / hows / what happens is all up to you.

Vanyel as a theater queen, Stef as a musical prodigy who, to everyone's consternation, forgoes his classical training to be some kind of punk/alt rocker. They hate each others' musical styles but both love classic rock--Queen, Rush, Journey, etc. Can be slice of life, pwp, or plotty, just as long as there's some bickering over their music choices.

I just need my two favorites to meet and hit it off. Would especially love it if they end up commiserating over stupid bards writing stupid inaccurate songs about them. You can rearrange canon however you want to make this happen, but no ghost!Vanyel please.

Bonus points if they also end up commiserating over the fact that the wrong gendered people hit on them, because people forget/never knew Van is shaych, and assume Kero must be shaych because she's a merc.

Olivia Dunham is a Herald, patrolling Valdemar on her Companion, Charlie. She and her partner Herald Astrid are called to deal with the decrepit former mage Walter Bishop.

Add in Peter Bishop, the mad-sorcerers beautiful son, some reality bending, dubious narcotics, and they fight crime.

Olivia/Peter is a must.

In which Vanyel (mid-series) and former army medic- took an arrow to the knee- John Watson go on a mission, and hook up. They bond over dead boyfriends.

Of course one is getting reincarnated, and the other is a jerk who faked his own death.

Fair warning – I haven’t read the Exile books or To Take a Thief, but Alberich and Skif’s dynamic in Arrows intrigued me greatly. I’d love a scene where they’ve both been secretly attracted to each other, and one day they’re practice sparring and tensions rise with each physical contact, maybe it’s really hot out and they’re wearing less clothing than usual, and suddenly they’re definitely not fighting any more.

Don't worry about spoiling the prequels for me, and I'm cool with slightly underage Skif should your muse take you in that direction...

Vanyel has all the mage-power in the world. Instead of a dramatic duel, why not use that power to drop an avalanche on Leareth? Or some other indirect attack? Fix-it AU or explanation why Vanyel didn't think of a non-suicidal alternative in fic format.

Vanyel gets to cuddle with the Shadow-Lover in Magic's Promise. But that's not really enough. I think there should have been hot extraplanar sex happening in that scene, so I would love someone to provide that hot extraplanar comfort sex between Vanyel and the Shadow-Lover.

Stefen never went to Bardic. Instead some highborn older man picks him up/buys him from Berte. Stef is obviously going to have to be underage, but I would like for him NOT to be a child. Fifteen or sixteen is the lowest age I'm comfortable with here. So, Stef spends the next five or six years being pampered by his sugar daddy. He has everything he could ever dream of wanting, but is still keenly aware that he's in a precarious position. Basically the same attitude he has in canon. He is NOT going to do anything to jeopardize his position and is willing to do whatever it takes to build a secure future.

But! One way or another, he meets a certain Herald-mage...maybe Stef's sugar daddy is an important political figure. Or they just meet randomly in the market, or Vanyel rescues him somehow, idc about the specifics. Stef's backstory with his sugar daddy can be left vague or told in flashbacks, I'm mainly after Stef angst over having to choose between security and a chance at having something he actually, desperately wants, and Vanyel angst because he doesn't want to be just another person who takes advantage of Stefen. But of course, if you want to tackle the whole thing and write me a long multichapter fic, then by all means. :D

Oooh, I have an idea for that. Question tho: are you okay with me leaving out any and all mention of the gang rape? I have always happily skipped that scene and pretended he was just beaten up. I just...have always found the rape scene to be utterly pointless.
